3 Ways To Create The Physical And Mental Energy You Need To Run Your Business
As a business owner you know too well about overwork, stress and not enough time in the day. You may have sacrificed time with family, missed sleep, skipped meals and sat endless hours at the computer. What if you could be even more productive and still have the time and energy for your family and a social life? You can!
People who are more productive do these 3 things:
1. Eat a Healthy Diet
Complex carbohydrates such as fruits, vegetable, and whole grains provide vitamins, minerals, and fiber for a steady flow of energy and stabilized blood sugar. Lean proteins such as meat, fish, eggs, nuts and seeds provide building blocks to repair your body’s systems and strengthen your immune system. You may think that simple sugars such as a candy bar are giving you energy, but in reality it is just short-term. You very suddenly crash, causing exhaustion and the inability to think clearly. Simple sugars also deplete vitamins and minerals, leaving your tired and weakening your immune system. Your brain’s main fuel is sugar, but it needs a steady source to be its best.
Be sure to drink plenty of pure water. Dehydration can cause your body systems to slow, resulting in fatigue and headaches. Studies show that drinking a glass or two of water in the afternoon eliminates mid-day slump in most people.
2. Take Breaks
Taking frequent breaks allows your mind and body to recharge and you will have more creativity and stamina. Set a timer on the computer to go off every 30 minutes and look away from the computer out in the distance as far as you can, preferably out a window. Stretch, take deep breaths, and drink some water. This only takes a minute and you will find you are refreshed and able to think more clearly. Take a 10-minute break every 2 hours and get up and walk around. If you can, go into another room or even outside.
Be sure to get 7-8 hours of sleep. Your body restores itself during sleep and you will find you are more creative and able to accomplish more the next day
3. Get Regular Physical Exercise
Getting some form of regular physical exercise will increase your circulation and lung capacity to bring oxygen and blood flow to your brain. You will experience clearer thinking and a greater ability to deal with stress. Exercise also strengthens your immune system, lessening the chances of your getting sick and not being able to work.
Having a healthy balance of good nutrition, rest, and physical exercise will help your body produce all the energy you need to run your business, and still have enough left to enjoy your family and social life.
