What I Learned from a Gym Locker About Expectations

When I go to the gym, I stop in the locker room to put my extra things in a locker. I noticed one day that I had a habit of hesitantly opening each locker to see if it was free.

Sometimes I would find a free one first off and sometimes I would have to open several to find one empty. But it was that sense of hesitancy that I suddenly realized one day was always there. [Read more…]

Dr. Joe Dispenza, Guest Video Blog

As we continue this series for a “fresh start” in the new year by understanding how our brain works (for us and against us), here is part 3 of this 4-part video series.

In video 3, Dr. Dispenza continues his scientific explanation of how people continue to see themselves as victims based on their pre-programmed filters and how what we see as “reality” is merely a result of our limited perception. Yet we can also rewire our genetic and early brain programming (50% from our parents) to “see” a new “reality.”

Happy (belated) New Year!

If you’re like most people, you’re looking at this turn of the calendar as an excuse for a “fresh start.” Whether you made “resolutions” or just thought about what you’d like to do or experience differently this year, there are things you’d like to change.

Unfortunately, statistics state that most New Year’s Resolutions don’t make it past mid-February. And why is that? It’s because what really needs to change in order for transformation to last is what most people never give attention to or even know how to utilize effectively–the subconscious mind.

mirroring-stuart smalleyHow to Get Someone to Like & Trust You

You might have heard this before: “People do business with who they know, like & trust.” Whether it’s a company and its reputation, or a person and their reputation or personality, building the “know, like & trust factor” is crucial if you want to gain customers or collaborators (others who assist you in reaching your goals).

NeuroLinguistic Programming (NLP) is one of the modalities I am trained in that teaches ways to gain rapport with someone. This method uses what we have learned about how the mind processes and responds to information. And a technique to get someone to like and trust you is called “matching” or “mirroring.” By using this technique, you can gain rapport with someone within a few minutes.

hot tip7 Hot Tips to Get Clients in December

It’s December. Time for the dreaded holiday lull! Or is it?

Unless you’re a retailer, the commercialism of the season can divert funds from your service-based business, which can’t usually be purchased to give as a gift (unless you can do gift certificates, but that’s a much lower price point). People also tend to allocate their “spare time” to shopping, cooking, decorating, parties, and travel.

But your business can’t take a holiday. If you need to drum up more business for the month, how can you possibly “compete” for peoples’ time and wallets amongst those additional distractions?

Here are 7 tips that have worked well for me and for colleagues who are in coaching, holistic & other service-based businesses:

fearTHIS is the single biggest barrier to achieving your dreams (Morty Lefkoe, Guest Blog)

If you really want to understand why you haven’t achieved what you want—why you haven’t been able to manifest your dreams—answer the following five questions:

  • Are you usually afraid of starting something new?
  • Do you have a lot of ideas but you never seem to put them into action?
  • Do you procrastinate a lot?
  • Do you tend to do things the same way all the time?
  • Do you wonder why you aren’t more creative and innovative?

If you answered, “yes,” to any of these questions it’s probably because of one main fear…
