Marketing Isn't About Dragging People Into Your Offerings

In a recent "Business Jumpstart VIP Day" with one of my clients, we were discussing her mindset and blocks around marketing. One of her beliefs was that marketing had to be pushy, and that she felt like she was constantly "dragging" people into her classes. Can you relate to this feeling?

As I worked with her over the course of the next 4 hours, she began to shift her perceptions of marketing and by the end of our time together she was excited about marketing and the plans we came up with to inspire and pull her ideal clients into her offerings instead of pushing them. Keep reading to learn how you can have that turnaround, too.

Marketing is simply about education. Your marketing copy, techniques & methods should all be designed to educate your ideal clients. Whether it's on your website, in articles/blogs, audios/videos, reports, emails, newsletters, brochures, dialog, etc., your main goal should be to teach your audience something that will be of value to them to help them with a problem or gain something they want.

Good marketing accomplishes several things:

1. Allows them to realize their problem or goal is common, so they don't feel so alone or "weird."

2. Gives your ideal client immediate help that they can use/apply or an "aha" that helps shift their thinking about what's been going on for them

3. Shows you as an expert in this problem or arena, thereby building trust and confidence

4. Demonstrates your product or service as a solution to their problem or a better way to achieve their goal than what they've been using

If you just share with people what you know inside and out, with a pure intent to serve them and help them get what they want, you will immediately draw them to you, and they'll want more. You won't have to plead them to talk with you or buy from you. Just lead, and they will follow–like butterfies to nectar.
